I asked Naomi what the best part of Christmas was. She replied that getting her Ariel doll was her favorite gift! It was worth the effort and stress of trying to have it arrive on time after all! In fact I think it was an added bonus to get a letter from Santa. Naomi has not let Ariel out of her sight! Other favorites are the cheerleader doll, the art supplies and her Charlie and Lola books. Paige is really loving the baby doll that Tia gave her and spends most of her time at home pushing the doll in her new stroller. She also loves the vet hospital set from the Murphy's and her new spot book. Paige is really starting to enjoy books, and I find I am reading to her and Naomi constantly.
I look forward to the New Year and lots more exciting events! I cannot believe how fast the girls are growing up!

Christmas 2007
We had a lovely Christmas day, Naomi and I made Christmas sugar cookies for Santa, and left him some, plus plenty of carrots for Rudolph and the other reindeer's. Noami decided to peel and slice each of the carrots, to make it easier for the Reindeer to eat, accommodating!
On Christmas morning Naomi woke up first at about 7.30am, not too early. I had her wait for Paige to wake up, but Paige needed a little help, so we opened her bedroom door and she was awake in a flash. Santa's gifts were a big hit, Naomi didn't have her Ariel doll yet, but the letter from Santa explaining it was not finished helped. She loved the cheerleader doll, Jasmine, and her harmonica. She did point out that it wasn't shiny. Paige saw her stroller and was in love. She played with it all morning, and loved the doll that claps and laughs from Tia! They had way too many toys, but enjoyed the whole day.
The Murphy's came over for Christmas dinner, and we all ate too much and played scrabble. The kids played and got along well! A good Christmas!

Three lips of tulips
Last night the Murphy's joined the danners for a walk to look at our neighborhood lights. Adam and Naomi rode their bikes and were tearing off. We walked over the Bagby School to check out the Kindergarten class in preparation for September (!!) on the wall was a collage of tile that made a picture. Naomi said "look mommy, three lips" and pointed to some flowers. I said, "no they are called Tulips.' to which she replied no look b/c they have 3 petals! it was cute!
Christmas is around the corner!
It has been a tough week or so with stomach flu, that got everyone except Barry. Thankfully it happened the week before Christmas and we are mostly better. The girls are ready for Christmas. naomi is DYING to open presents. She wrote a letter to Santa:
Dear Santa,
Please bring me an Ariel singing doll, sparkly glue, a harmonica, Snow White doll, feetsie pajamas and things to do art. Paige would like anything for Babies, cars and pajamas. Thanks you, I love you!
Naomi and Paige
The Ariel singing doll has been a tough one, Naomi saw it in a grocery store in October and was upset that i wouldn't buy it. i told her she had to wait until Christmas, not thinking she would remember! i have had the hardest time finding one, i finally ordered one on Amazon and it hopefully will arrive 12/22..fingers crossed.
Paige is really enjoying playing with Baby dolls and so she will be easy to please, it is hard b/c she has all Naomi's hand me downs.

Christmas is coming!
This weekend we completed out Christmas decorations. Last weekend Barry put the lights up outside, and the swirly Christmas trees. There are a lot of lights!!! This weekend we went to Castle Rock farm and picked out a tree. It was so fun. We went with the Murphy's and the kids had a lot of fun running in between the trees trying to find the perfect tree. We took a bunch of pictures, and tried to get that perfect shot for our Christmas card, not sure I got it. After sawing down our tree we enjoyed hot chocolate and snacks, then home to decorate. Our tree looks beautiful and Naomi had a lot of fun finding decorations from years before that she had made! She is proud to have found "the perfect tree" and congratulates herself for picking such a good one. Pictures to follow!

November 2007
We are fine and getting ready to move from Fremont to San Jose. Naomi is excited to move and be so close to her BFF Adam! Both girls were sick last week with the asthma, but feeling better now and back to their old tricks!
Paige has discovered the toilet. One of her fave past-times is to break off toilet paper and throw it into the toilet bowel. While I was rinsing Naomi's hair in the bath, Paige threw one of Naomi's shoes and a bottle of lotion into the toilet! Lovely! She also loves to wash her hands at the sink. Naomi is having fun at school and enjoys playing with Jaymin and Christoper, she likes the art projects, and playing in the sand!

The latest in the Fall
We are rolling into the Fall and the girls are staying healthy which is huge for our house! They are on daily asthma meds, but they seem to be working and so it is worth it. I am hoping they will grow out of the asthma soon!
Paige is full on walking now, she loves to climb too! She thinks she is so daring to climb on Naomi's step stool and then complains when she is stuck! She can blow kisses and loves to jump/dance to music! no favorite stuffed toy, or blanket, she is flexible and rolls with us!
Naomi is beginning to enjoy preschool, she plays with a lot of different kids and talks about them all the time. She still struggles with drop off a little and the change has taken some getting used too. It has been enlightening, I am so happy we did this before kindergarten. She is planning to be a cowgirl for Halloween with Paige as her trusty horse! Naomi likes the pink cowgirl boots we bought the most! Naomi is taking an interest in reading now, and read a book perfectly yesterday (from memory!) Barry was so impressed!

Hillary
Just today at school it was pet day for naomi and she made a picture of a dog (Hillary) and
a cat...she said "when Hillary passes away I want a cat like this!" Nice,
poor hills, she doesn't even have one foot in the grave! School is going
well for Naomi, she is getting better at the drop off, and seems to be
having a lot of fun.

Paige is Walking!
Paige has been practicing for a while now, but has decided to walk! She is fourteen and a half months, and so proud of herself!! She is still crawling more than walking, but it won't be long! She is dying to keep up with Naomi and her friend Sean!

Paige at 14 months
Paige is really blossoming and showing us her personality! She is very proud of herself and will stand up in the middle of the room to get attention, and clap to congratulate herself! She has taken a tiny half step, but not ready to walk unassisted. She likes to walk and hold onto one hand. Paige's favorite game is "peek-a-boo" she covers her eyes with her hands and surprises us! she eats almost everything, but reacts to dairy foods, but likes the soy just as well! She points at everything, birds, trucks, clouds, people..and exclaims "Ahhh cowwbya" not sure what that means yet...she has gotten the hang of "mamma!" :-)
First Day of Preschool
Naomi started preschool and was very excited about it. The timing was perfect, since all her little friends at daycare have started Kindergarten and preschool. We got all geared up and bought a new backpack and shoes. Barry practiced meeting new friends with Naomi, role playing! Barry Paige and I dropped her off, she was very happy to be there and finally meet her teachers, we had been talking about them for a long time. When it was time for me to say goodbye Naomi was a little sad and didn't really want to be left, but Teacher Teresa took her under her wing and they waved me and Paige off, and she had a great day! Naomi made a teddy bear collage, played in the sand and water and made 2 paintings. I think she will have a great time there! She has been talking a lot about Ori one of the boys in her class!

Paige is growing up
Paige is now cruising around the furniture, trying to get hold of as much stuff as possible. She is also not crawling as much and prefers to walk on all fours, on her feet and hands, like a bear. She eats everything, except avocado, she loves her food!
When I grow up
(Naomi) I am going to marry Adam and we are going to have 2 boys and 2 girls, named Olivia, Amy, Jackson and Nathan. They are going to be twins that only speak Spanish so you need to learn Spanish Mama!

When I grow up
Naomi this morning in the car: I am going to have a red car, like Grandma's, but mine is going to be a mini van. And guess where I am going to live? In England, because thats where my house is! I told her, her Grandma and Grandad would be very happy about this, and she told me: "my cousins too!"

4 going on 24
This morning Naomi went to Tia's with a full face of make-up. Purple eye shadow, brown pencil on her eyebrows, and bright pink lipstick. She gave Paige a big kiss, and transferred some of the lippo!
Papa's mantra
Every morning Barry goes into Naomi and kisses her good morning. He always tells her the same thing. "have a great day, be a good friend, and don't take life too seriously!"

Paige at age 1 year
Paige is practicing her walking skills. She is doing well and will walk if you hold her hands. Her feet are very turned out!!!! She is so proud of herself! Her other favorite trick is to give high-five! She is a little love and likes to eat anything, her favorite being peas and turkey sandwich meat. She is babbling away too, nothing legible, maybe she is speaking Spanish??!
children
at bedtime Naomi was talking about some of my friends at work, one of which does not have children. I explained that some people choose not to have kids, it was a choice. She told me She is going to have two children. Both girls. She said she wished you could choose, and she would not want boys...so funny. By the time she has children maybe it will be easy to specify the preferred sex of the baby!!!
The unveiling
Last night Naomi asked me if could keep my red sandals for her when she was bigger... I asked her if she wanted to see my wedding dress...I have saved it not really thinking she or Paige would ever use it, but it is sentimental. So we get it out, and since I did not have it cleaned and packaged properly, the sequins looked a little yellow! Anyway, Naomi LOVED it. She asked me to try it on, which I did, and Naomi thought I looked like a princess. I have to admit I could not zip it all the way up, 10 years of marriage and two children will do that! It was fun to go back in time!

Little bird
This morning we saw a bird that was struggling to fly. I pointed it out to Naomi and she said "maybe that little bird is a toddler, and she hasn't learned to fly!"

July news
7/16/07
At Happy hollow this weekend with the Murphy's, Naomi climbed to the top of the climbing frame and told me it was 'way scary." This is after she and Adam tried the stepping stones through the shallow water. Naomi was the first to fall in, getting her feet wet and crying pretty hard. Adam fell 2 seconds later and went in on all fours! He needed a fresh shirt, shorts, the whole deal...he cried for less time!!! Overall a fun day and everyone dried!

"Mama"
Paige turns one in a couple of days (July 9th) and is loving her new trick..standing. She tries to stand up at anything and then tries to climb on whatever it is. She lifts her leg way up for the smallest of steps! Cute. She is happy, happy happy, and finally said "Mama" last night! I think she was making me feel better because when I picked her up from daycare, she cried when she was passed to me and wanted to stay with Milvia! Stinker!

The beginning
I thought I would post just a few notes about the girls and what they are doing, and the funny things they say...here goes:
Paige is about to turn one and has mastered the art of crawling. She is also working on another tooth #4, she has a K9 coming in next to her front tooth...where is the other front tooth? daycare is convinced she can say "obwella" the Spanish word for Grandma...sounds like a bunch of babble to me!!!!
Naomi newly four is already talking about being age 6, obviously more attractive than 4. She threw up this morning after a coughing fit, and promptly announced it to the whole daycare. I had to back peddle and explain the cough triggered the vomit...I hope!
